If you have an incubator I know the last three days its on lockdown. So what changes in nature between a setting hen & the nest? Just curious.

Once they hear or feel movement or sound, they do tend to be more stubborn and wish not to move. Once the first peep is out she gives around 24 hours and then starts her mothering.

They do not go on "lockdown" till they feel or hear these. Prior to that, they still get off the nest and eat, drink, dust bathe, etc.
