There are tell tale signs. Boys at three/four months old look like they have legs longer they are big. You might see streamers begin to develop but that's only after they've molted out all of their chick down.
I totally agree i have had silkies. I tell you they are one of the most hard to backyard sex as I call it breeds out there. And I had a hen named storm she was the best. This was the last picture ever of her. We had to put her down after she ran away and came back with fly strick and a prolapse. Rip storm. But I thought it was cool that you have a silkie named storm.I completely understand. With so many other breeds it's pretty easy early but Silkies are just not going to cooperate with us.
