If your having predator problems, you might be interested in placing a post on a hunting web site in your state for "trappers wanted".
Many trappers are looking for properties to set snares. A win, win situation.
They get to trap and take out the critters, you get more security for your girls. Of course this can only work if you have enough property and you live out in the country.
I have a trapper working my 8 acres and has already taken out 10 raccoons. My neighbor is happy also, garbage cans haven't been raided in awhile.
For NJ residents try NJFNG.com

Thats a good alternative, thanks for sharing! I take care of my own predators here, except the Bald Eagle that decided to make 2 of my mallards dinner.

Even if you don't want anyone setting snares or traps on your property, it is a good thing to have a trappers phone number.
I have caught quite a few racoon and I do not release them to be someone else's problem, plus they need to be thinned out. So at least if you dispatch the racoon, you can call the trapper to save the pelt. This way it has served some purpose being harvested.
