So one of our red sexed links we have been watching that seems to have matured later then the others laid her first. The color is wrong. Thoughts?

Pretty!!!. Are all your hens sex links for sure?
If you wash the bloom off does the egg get a brown color?

Hmm I think they are. I haven’t wash it. I normally don’t until we eat them. My others give me light tan.

Not all eggs will be same color even among the breeds.
Only my ISA birds lay an actual brown egg. All the others are tan, cream or light brown.

Hmm good to know Nm. We are now losing daylight hours so I am guessing eggs will slow down soon. Sunrise is 640 and sets about same time.

I have all brown layers. My Wyandotte lays a pinky, light beige egg. the Orpington lays a tan egg, while (I think it is)the Marans lays a darker brown egg- but not chocolate- it has some black speckles on it. The others haven't started laying yet. I think each chicken lays a certain tone of egg. I think your pink egg is cute- and probably normal for that hen.
