My mom went out to collect eggs today while I got ready for dance class, and she came in very confused. The chickens had made their normal racket of laying, but only laid an egg yolk/white. I believe it's a calcium deficiency. What do you think?

It might also being a hen going back to laying after a molt. It can be many different things. I would watch to see if it keeps happening.

I'm assuming they are getting calcium either in their feed or free choice.

They are about 10 months old, they get calcium both in feed and free-choice, and they free-range. It's happened for a few days already.

It would be good to find out which hen it is, she might need some added calcium to her diet along with some D3 to help with absorption of the calcium.

We added some calcium to their food and we've gotten normal eggs! Hooray!
