Started about 2 years ago with some backyard hens and now on shared property with a partner are pasture raising around 100 Delawares, Marans, Orpingtons and Plymouth Rocks for meat and eggs. We're feeding Countryside organic feed but are trying to move to an increased foraging situation. Any suggestions are welcome. Preparing an area in oak canopy for planting berries, cowpeas and sunflowers. Thinking about black soldier flies and compost piles.

Read the book Omnivores dilemma. In it is a chapter on a chicken wagon that this beautiful farm moves every 3 days. The chickens follow the cows around from pasture to pasture. Cots really quite beautiful. I'd like to do that someday. Welcome!

Thanks! I'll read it. I've read all Salatin's books so I didn't know if I would glean anything new from OD. I'll be sure too now. That's the kind of thing I have in mind!
