My Faverolle rooster is blinking and closing is eyes a lot and lowering his head. He is still eating and drinking but has low energy. I suspect it’s either a mite infestation or coccidiosis. He is over 2 years old. I did see mites on one of the hens, but they are not acting as sick as the rooster. What are possible other causes?
I would treat him for the mites right away. You've seen them on another bird, chances he also has them. His behavior matches that of a long term mite infestation.
Red mites only come out at night, so if you see them during the day, the infestation can be worse than you might think.
