This time of year getting Silkie hens is going to be tough. It's breeding season. Breeders will not be selling off pullets right now unless there are obvious faults.

Check to see if there is a Silkie FB group in TX.

I sure hope you can find them. It's not easy. Especially asking for just hens. Silkie breeders guarded those girls until they knew if they worth keeping.

I live outside of Houston a little bit but if you check with SeaBreeze Hens in San Leon near Galveston, she has silkies. I'm not sure what's left because chickens are going like hot cakes right now, but you can join a wait list. When I saw her silkies last time they were beautiful but spoken for. We plan to get some at some point. I hope you can find some to love soon!
