Your female , IF she goes broody won't be until next spring. Hatching babies right now is ill-advised since it is so close to winter. Come next spring when you want babies you will need to let the duck build her nest and collect her eggs. IF she goes broody she will decide when she does and how many eggs she will collect. Then IF she stays broody she will sit for about 28 days. She will come off the nest to eat and go back to sit. But of course it all depends on the breed and perticular duck. Not all breeds go broody and even if they do they may not stay and sit the entire time.
