How old do Wyandottes have to be to become broody? And how often do they become broody?

And a question with my rooster........ How old will he be able to breed his ladies… and if he breeds my buff orpingtons..... And i keep his daughters...... Will it be OK if he breeds them?? Thanks~

buff orpingtons would be a safer bet to go broody. But typically springish. When they think the weather is nice to raise chicks.

age roughly 4-5 months is the earilest i've heard but generally it's mature pullets in spring. Some hens never go broody.

Our Wyandotte is super broody and always has been broody. She's a bit of an unsocial, moody oddball, but I love her!
