Hello, We do not yet own any chickens but I am moving to Alaska and I would like to know more about raising chickens in Alaska.

My family has owned chickens in Oklahoma but that was a long time ago when I was very young.

I am interested in knowing what varieties do best for egg production/meat and how do you keep them warm in 40 below weather. I know that there are plenty of chickens there but I am hoping to hear from someone who is raising chickens there.

My friend has a farm there & a Facebook group page as Top of the Hill Farm. I'm not sure if it's an open group. She keeps chickens, ducks, turkeys, & small livestock.
