We are just starting out on our chicken adventure, and will be ordering our first chicks shortley. I have spent quite a bit of time with assorted poultry over the years, but these will be our first. Any advise, tips or tricks are greatly appreciated. :D

Welcome! I love raising the baby chicks - it will be a lot of fun for the whole family. Do you know what you are ordering yet?

I really like the looks of the Barred Rocks & Dominiques, but I really don't want to have them go through the mail... I want to fins something locally, but no luck yet....

Baby chicks are SOOO sweet, I remember crawling in the brooding box with the baby turkeys as a child.... I just loved them so... and the coop when they were grown :p

Hi! We're from Southern Maine, not far from you, but we just moved up to Western Maine near Rumford.
i go over to the chicken swap in Sanford in warm weather (starting in May)
i'm planning on hatching out lots of buff orpingtons, english orpingtons & silkies this year. it's looking like the demand will be high
