My name is Diane, my grandfather was an old chicken farmer and used to sell his chickens to New Yorkers as meat and eggs.

I have always wanted some chickies, and just got my first batch 2 weeks ago from MPC. Nine , 2 australorps, 2 silver laced wyandottes, 2 buff orpingtons, 2 speckled sussex and 1 columbian wyandotte (had two, one passed:(

Grew up with german shepherds, have one now along with 2 aussies , 4 cats and some fish.

I am loving these entertaining little chickies which are still inside at the moment. Will miss having them in the house when they go to their new living area outside.

How old are they
doesn't seem like a year ago, I did this intro:) Since then I had to euth my columbian wyandotte a couple weeks ago, a prolapse I couldn't cure:( I rehomed one of my SLW's, a week later, she decided to take an immense dislike to one of my spec sussex and was going to "kill" her.."Louise" is living the high life on a farm and will be used in their breeding program:)

Storm Sandy, smashed my 12 x 20 Dutch Barn, leaving 4 ft standing, which we 'rigged' for the girls to live in temporarily..Well that was last October:( Weather delays, tree removal delays, you name it, we have built a separate temp coop for them while we demo the rest of the barn and rebuild, hopefully SOON!

I have added 3 day olds, that are now 5 weeks old, 2 coronation sussex and a RIR..Great birds!!

I also have 3 / 1 week olds,,,2 Lav Orps and a Lemon Cuckoo Orp..not sure what sex they are yet, hoping for girls:)
