In the late 1800s and early 1900s Tobacco companies included collecting cards with their chewing tobacco and cigarette packaging. There were every kind of sports, Olympic, famous people and animal card. The premise was to get the consumer to try to collect all the cards in any given set. In my father's estate there was a roll top desk with sets of antique tobacco cards collected into notebooks, mostly baseball. And of course, we can't find most of them.
