Beats me, we also have a pitbull mix. We have 5 ducks, 3 geese, 3 dogs, a cat and a cockatiel. We had another dog, a terrier mix that was in the house for a short time but it wouldn't quit chasing the cat so we gave it to my step-daughter. We're looking for another inside dog, a small breed puppy to replace the terrier mix

Yeah. All small breed dogs, puppy or grown. There's all sorts of big dogs available, the pound is overflowing with them and have people temporarily taking care of them at home until they find them homes

Do you also have dog rescues in the area? They might also be a group to be looking at.

I fell into this thing with the chi/mix by accident. I have a feeling Trixie was owned by a senior citizen that could no longer care for her and whoever dumped her on the side of the side of the road instead of turning her in. Luckily the dog pound found her and brought her to a thing my vet put together for halloween. She was within four days of being euthanized.

I'm not sure it'd be called a dog rescue. We have a Humane Society but that's it. All strays brought in by normal citizens, police, fire department go there now since the dog catcher retired. We use to have a dog catcher that was funded by the county that had to take everything and we're free to adopt from there. The dog pound is funded by donations and cost $100 to adopt from there. Both places have them neutered or spayed and the dog pound takes them to a vet to be checked for health issues and give them shots also.

Dumping dogs and cats must be really bad here. We have multiple rescue organizations here. Trixie did come from the local dog pound, I didn't even know there was one.

They don't do the spay neuter here but the cost of adoption is low. I paid 25$ for Trixie. I don't know what they do about spay and neuter, if that's a requirement after adoption.

Dumping dogs is really bad here too. A month or so ago a black lab got dumped here and he got into the area where the dogs and ducks are. I was concerned about him running loose around the ducks so I took him to the Humane Society and was told they couldn't take him because they were overflowing. I asked what I was suppose to do then. The only option they gave me was to try and find somebody who would temporarily take him until they could find somebody. I wound up taking him out on the other side of town and dumped him out. I hate dumping animals but he was already dumped, I just moved where he was dumped.

The Humane Society loose money on the dogs because it costs $120 just to neuter them let alone the cost of exams and shots. The lady running it says she does it though because if the cost was too high she knows nobody would adopt any. When the dog catcher was doing it the county paid for theirs plus all the dog food to feed them.

I thought it was based on actual events and it said at the beginning it was based on an autobiography but then at the end it said it wasn't based on actual events and the people mentioned and the events were fictitious so I wasn't positive.
