Hi guys I got a pekin bantam who has been jumping on pretty all of my hens iv never seen this in any eggs before he came, would you say this was a fertilised egg that could have went on to be a hatchling given the propper care? I’m positive this was from my coral nick hen.

Your boys are getting the job done then. That didn't take long at all.

Next I'll be watching for chick pics.
It’s only the little lavender pekin bantam that’s ready for breeding he’s doing a great job he was jumping on every hen he could on the second day here, the partridge and red Pyle leghorns and the black maran will all start to lay in the next month roughly so I’ll need to keep the little guy away until the black araucana is ready for them.
Ha, now you're down to the real chicken raising part. They'll keep you on your toes.

Yeah that’s for sure lol I’m looking forward to it though.
Good practice for when you've got a human peep around and after a while able to get into anything not locked down.

I already have a little girl from a past relationship so got a little practice already.

my friend has eggs incubating under one of his silkies just now, one is an Araucana x maran and he has says I can have it if all goes well.
Isn't his due to hatch right about now? Do you know about the whole introduction thing?

How old?

I’m sure he still has around 6 days until they hatch yet.

yeah if the little one does make it’s way along here I have a separate small coup, and I just got some stuff today to build a small enclosed run so they can see but not actually get to each other for at least a couple of weeks.

my little girl is 8 years old. She’s called Murren.
Lovely name. And she's at that age when she's still adorable.

You probably don't have to worry about your Silkie and her peeps. It's the single you'll be getting from your friend that might struggle finding a spot to fit in.

Thanks it’s a traditional Scottish name, she’s a little angle.

yeahI thought it would be a hard intro but iv introduced the black maran to the full flock with minimal issues so its m hoping I can apply the same technique with similar results.
Just know they can throw a bomb at you when you least expect it. It's best not to try figure out some chicken behavior. It might drive you up the wall and over the roof.

I’m goi g into it with an open mind it’s all a learning curve for me just now tbf I don’t I will ever stop learning g new things it’s just enjoying the journey it brings that’s the draw for me.
And you will continue to learn new things as long as you have them. Not only because of the individual personalities but because we understand more and more of their needs to keep them healthy and long lived.

OK, that's fun to see. Rarely do you see a full grown hen do something like that. Laps, yes. Shoulder? Very unusual.

She's going to become your favorite for sure now.

Yeah some of the others will come and sit next to me and on my lap sometimes but it was awesome when she done that, does that mean she’s comfortable and settling in well? I just want them all to be as happy as possible.
Much has to do with the breed. Some breeds would never be caught doing what she did. Others really like their humans and will spend time with them.

She trusts you. The rest that come to visit are doing it for the treats but even treats wouldn't have them coming to you if they didn't trust you.

She’s a black copper maran, she’s due to start laying in the next couple of weeks I always take time to make sure I’m with them at least 4/5 times a day,

it’s great that she trusts me and the rest too o really do everything I can to make sure their comfortable and stress free. I have a picture of the black araucana rooster also on my back lol

You're having way too much fun with this. I can picture wife standing in the window shaking head watching her grown up husband with his birds. :ROFLMAO:

Haha yeah I spend Mabey two three hours a day out back with them. I’m like a big kid running back into the house to tell her what the birds are doing somthing funny 😆

This seems to be becoming a daily thing with her now 🤭I’ll attach some other pics so you can see the colour in her neck I think it’s really cool.

I’ll also attach some other pics of the other girls. And the two boys.
