I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I've always wondered. When one of my hens is in the nest laying an egg, another hen will stand just outside, crowing her head off. It seems like she's either making an announcement, "There's an egg coming! There's an egg coming!" or encouraging the other hen "Come on! You can do it!" :)

Almost all my girls do this.

    Any thoughts?

Yep, mine all chime in whether its them laying the egg or their sibling. It always makes me stop and listen and smile.
