A big howdy from B.C., Canada.

I don't currently have any chickens, but I have been looking into getting a small clutch of them this spring, if I can find space to put up a chicken coop that won't be affected by our automatic sprinklers here.... :)
An alternative would be to do a co-op with a neighbour down the road who has a small acreage.
All things considered, though, I would prefer to have a nice chicken tractor and move it around the yard.

I had a flock of 12 Giant White Jersey hens and one bantam rooster when I was a teenager, and still in high school. That would have been in around 1969... The hens were huge... I don't think I've seen any quite that large since.

This time around I think I'll opt for a heritage breed, if I can obtain some locally. Last year I could have ordered Canadian Chanticler birds, but I see that the local producer offering those has stopped doing so. So I think I'll just gather a mix of whatever breeds are available.

Cheers,
Chris Green. "Straw_Cat".
