I got 2nd place In a young Farmers meat bird show!!
Congratulations!!!I'm proud of you!!!
Congrats!!! How exciting! What were the chickens judged on?
Weight and feed conservation I barely got second but my chickens ate like 2 ounces less than another girls
Well done! Keep up the good work
Chickens get judged on how much they eat or don't eat?I never would've thought about that.Chickens are walking stomachs.
More feed per meat bird = less profit for the farmer. After day 32 the feed rate conversion goes up and less profit for Cornish cross meatbirds.
Funny - I just finished an article on Leghorn chickens and how good their feed/egg ratio is - I had never really thought about it.
So, NM, is raising your own really cheaper than buying chicken in Walmart? Or is raising your own more for health and fresh food?
I learn something new everyday!!!So,are most cornish cross meat birds slaughtered by 5 wks?My favorite thing to smoke is a rock cornish hen.So yummy!!!
I have a cornish ee cross. Poor hen eats like crazy and lays a pretty blue green egg. Worst thing to do is crossbreed with smaller birds.
Any new wins?
