Bird Chicken Phasianidae Beak Comb
We have this rooster that needs a home. He's quite good looking! Most of my hens are Leghorns and are just small enough that when he goes to grab them at the neck feathers he ends up getting their combs. I can't let my smaller girls get their combs all beat up. The Asia black hens are not having any problems with it. The only thing I can think of is the difference in size. Otherwise he is a good rooster.
Hubby does not want him eaten...he is attached to this rooster but realizes he needs to go. We don't have anyplace to keep him separate from the smaller girls. If you have any questions or would be willing to give him a home please let me know. My hubby may be willing to meet you, we are in the central part of the mitten in MI. Thanks!

Finding the breeds crossed in this "new breed" is rather difficult. Seems I saw it once but can't find it now. I do recall reading that with this being a new breed it is not yet standardized and therefore not all look the same. I would otherwise guess he got in the wrong slot somewhere along the line as he does not look like the hens. Hens are black with that iridescent green/blue. One of the 3 hens has a bronze scarf around her neck. This has a few feathers we see occasionally that have that iridescent green/blue to them amongst the barred rock look.

Plymouth, Barred, or Heritage Rock, something along those lines. I think there was a few years in the 1920s-ish when they were the most commonly kept chicken in the states. During World War 2, they were one of the breeds Americans were encouraged to keep for meat and eggs.
