Our first homemade coop

  • Here are a few pictures of our Murrieta, CA backyard coop and our four pullets. We moved them into the coop at two weeks old but closed it up tight with a heat lamp so they stayed all warm and cozy at night. Temps don't drop low at night during the summer here. We built it from scratch with only plans that I drew up myself and mostly scrap wood. we purchased $40 in plywood and a roll of stucco wire in lieu of chicken wire. Lots of shims and modifications after the fact but it sure was fun! The girls seem to love it. [IMG]

Update: we added a door to the end of the run to allow better access for cleaning. I wish we would have made it tall enough to stand up in.
