Our hens have quit laying altogether. This is our second summer with them and they went on vacation. What the heck! 8 weeks later and still waiting. Is this normal for certain breeds?

Are they stressed? Before my chickens came to live with me, at their previous home, there were a lot of foxes about which stressed them out. They hadn't been laying for some time and it took them about 3 weeks with us before they started up again.

could be going through a moult which is perfectly normal. i have a white sussex that pulls all her feathers out so you know what it is but my Columbian blacktail just stops laying but shows no signs of being egg bound etc then laying picks up again once the moult is over

I wish it were those things but no they are not stressed and they are not molting. Nothing has changed except egg production. I think my husband needs to go out with the crock pot and warn them about what happens when vacations last too long :)
