Has anyone else ever fed their girls turnip greens?
Well I did. My dad had a pick up bed full of greens that had started to go yellow and refused to sell them. Even though if he would have resorted them there were great looking edible greens in the middle of the bunches. Well I gave them 8 bunches last night and they striped the stems clean today. So since I have so many I gave them 6 more tonight. . But what about the turnip roots will they eat them are they ok for them to eat? I just had to share this because I did not think they would eat them like they did.

I occasionally feed turnip greens to my chickens. I think it's a good thing.

When I have questions about a new food I usually google the item plus the word toxic. Usually gets me the info I need.

    So I googled

    turnips toxic

    and got this:

    http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/afcm/turnip.html

Sounds like it is perfectly fine. And the site looks credible. Maybe an issues if livestock gorge on them.

Thanks I have put six bunches in everyday since Monday. They still have enough to last the rest of the week.
They are not as fond of the roots but if I grate them they seem to love it.
